The year 2022 marks my 11th year of shooting the final mile of El Tour de Tucson. And Saturday, November 19 was one of those cloudless, sunny days for which our city is famous.
From my vantage point, it wasn’t clear who the 102-mile race winner would be. Shortly before 11 am, a police escort came roaring up South 6th Avenue. The cops were followed by a tight cluster of riders that was led by…
…a tandem.
Pretty unusual for El Tour, but let’s just say that no two years are the same.
The media reported that 20-year-old Sean Christian emerged from the lead pack and finished in first place. Unlike many previous years’ winners, Sean is from Tucson.
