Podcast Guest Appearance: Birdhugger

Meet my studio audience. I caught this mourning dove couple strutting on the fence outside my studio.

And birds are the theme of this post, specifically, my appearance on the Birdhugger Podcast.

Host Catherine Greenleaf and I discussed how to handle drought with water harvesting, and we also noted one of its key benefits: Nourishing a natural habitat for birds and other wildlife.

My property is living proof of that. When I moved in back in 2004, there was no landscaping. Just crushed rock in the front yard and a formidable stand of Bermuda grass in the backyard.

Nowadays, there’s a lush landscape that’s like a magnet for the local birds. Mourning doves are just one species, and I have a complete bird list in my coffee table book, City Nature.
