Want to make your digestive system run in reverse? Drink your cistern water, straight out of the tank!
How can you avoid this calamity? By filtering your water.
Have I enjoyed filtered cistern water? I sure have!
There’s a local organization called the Watershed Management Group (WMG) that offers frequent events featuring rainwater drinks.
Matter of fact, one such event happens at the end of this month. Get your tickets for the 7th Annual Beavers and Brews and I’ll see you there. Let’s enjoy a rainwater drink together!
At my place, I use the cistern water in my garden. That’s it.
Note: The cute little maroon cup in the above photo isn’t for Martha’s drinks. It’s for catching drips after I disconnect the hose from the cistern. And then I empty the contents of the drip cup onto one of my thirsty plants. Every little bit helps!
Now, here’s the thing about filtering cistern water: Get it tested first. That way, you’ll know what to filter out.
I did a search on “Tucson water testing” and found all sorts of options. I plan to get in touch with one of them, get my cistern water tested, and I’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned!
