I have a confession to make: I need help.
As a water harvesting and gardener, I simply can’t do everything myself. And I’m also finding that there are limits to my knowledge. Here’s an example:
Since 2017, I’ve been happily raising a black mission fig tree in my backyard. It’s in a container for many years, and it appeared to be quite content with this arrangement.
However, it has stopped producing figs, and that’s why I bought in the first place.
A consultation with the Pima County Master Gardeners resulted in a long list of possible causes for this problem. The one that resonated with me was the simple fact that this tree has outgrown its container.
So, it’s time for Figster 2.0. That’s the tree at the top of this post. It’s a Fignomenal dwarf and it will be planted in a new container by the end of the month.
Now, let’s move out to my front yard and consider my passive water harvesting system.
This was way too big of a project to tackle alone. I’m grateful for all the help I had with the installation. Here’s the photo gallery.
