Art in the Sky
Artist’s Statement
Although the American West is known for its blue skies, I’m featuring a myriad of other colors.
This collection starts with a monochromatic view of historic Fort Bayard, near Silver City, New Mexico. The looming clouds were the vanguard of the storm shown in the next image.
Onward to the Chihuahuan desert region of southwestern New Mexico. The City of Rocks State Park showcases volcanic rock pinnacles that present a sharp contrast to a storm that’s rapidly moving eastward.
Also in the City of Rocks, ancient stone surrounds a tiny puddle reflecting the late afternoon sky. And, at twilight, the juxtaposition of a windmill with a waxing crescent moon.
Back home to Arizona, where an evening sun star peeks out from behind our state cactus, the saguaro.
